The old Depot and Wymott. |
Starting from the lay-bys at the south end of Schleswig Way we cross the River Lostock continuing on good tracks to Nixon Lane and the old explosive depot. We follow the track through to Wymott Village then join Holker Lane before finally cross the fields back to the lay-bys. |

Wheelton Heapey and Whittle-le-Woods Wander |
From Whins Lane making our way to the canal towards Top Lock Bridge where we head up to Higher Copthurst and South Hill. Dropping down into Wheelton Centre by the Clock Tower before heading across the by-pass, passing the Dressers Arms pub we go across the field paths back to the start at Whins Lane. |

The locks and canal in Wigan. |
Starting from Ashfield Park we follow the A49 to Gidlow Cemetery, passing through the cemetery to descend to the Douglas Valley. We then follow the lanes and the old railway at the foot of Haigh Park to reach the canal at the locks. Turning downhill we pass several canal locks to pass Wigan Pier continuing on the canal to reach Standish Lower Ground. Finally on paths and old railway tracks we pass Giants Hall to return to Ashfield Park. |

Mere Sands Wood |
A flat walk with no stiles walking along the canal towpath passing Rufford Old Hall and Fettlers Wharf. We continue along the towpath crossing over the canal bridge then make our way towards The Cricket Club and through Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve.The walk continues along a track through agricultural fields and past the old hospital. |

Heapey, White Coppice, Wheelton |
Rambling alongside Heapey Fishing Reservoirs to White Coppice where we cross over The Goit onto the edge of the West Pennine Moors. At the lower southern end of Wheelton Plantations we again cross over The Goit to head towards the Logwood Mill area. Heading on the track in a SW direction we arrive at the road junction where we take the route down Scow Croft Lane from which we take the path around The Lowe to the Cricket Ground at White Coppice. Then we head back to the starting point via White Coppice Farm. |

Starting from Feniscowles we head off towards the canal before descending into Pleasington and Hogton Bottoms. The walk then slowly climbs to go around Hoghton Tower before returning to our start point. |

Around Healey Nab |
Starting from Higher House Lane we follow the Heapey Reservoirs towards White Coppice before turning uphill back to Higher House Lane and the bridleway to the east of Healey Nab. Turning off this track we cross to White House before descending to the canal for the return through Bagganley. |

DUXBURY, RIVINGTON CIRCULAR |
Start the New Year walking off all those mince pies with an invigorating walk around Rivington. Starting off along the River Yarrow and along the canal bank. Over to Adlington, stop for lunch in the woods, then cross the motorway making our way to the Anglezarke Reservoir. Back through Abyssinia and Chorley Golf Club and finishing back at Duxbury. |
